Table Construction

So inspiration finally struck, and I've decided to go ahead with the table I've always wanted. I'm casting it out of the HIrst Arts bricks, using blue foam board as the base (on top of MDF). It's coming together slowly...casting hundreds/thousands of those little bricks takes a very, very long time. Still, I think the result will be worth it.

It's a modular 4x4 table, comprised of 4 2x2 squares. I've got plans to add an additional two squares in the future, creating a full 4x6 table for multiplayer games. The table will have a canal running through the center of some sections, but it's pretty modular so the play should not become too static. I'm designing it with Mordheim in mind, but I'd imagine it could work for 40k as well. It'll likely be a couple of months before it's ready for battle, but I've posted a few pics of the early stages in the photo gallery. Feel free to take a look. I'd welcome any comments or suggestions.

Terrain Construction Blog

So I've been convinced that I should start blogging my terrain construction efforts. After building several smaller pieces, I've decided to undertake construction of my dream table...or at least my first stab at it. It's starting out as a modular city board, with four 2 foot by 2 foot squares. I'll likely add two more squares after I finish the first four, so that I'll have a full 4x6 table.

The table will have a canal running through two of the boards (for a good water feature) but should still have plenty of room for buildings.

I'm trying to make the board farily generic. It's inspired by all the recent Mordheim we've been playing at the store, but I image that it could be used as a 40k board as well. It'll likely be a while before it's ready for play. Casting the bricks takes a long, long time. I'll be posting updates periodically. In the meantime, feel free to add suggestions or comments.

The photos are in the gallery if you want to have a closer look.

Brutal Restart

So today, Michael played me my first game of Warhammer 40k in 10 years. Necrons vs Space Marine Salamanders 1500 pt game. First Round Michael obliterates my Monolith and I just get horrifically raped from then on. I finally immobilze 1 of his tank transports and out pops his terminators and his captain. He then proceeds to save volley after volley from my near 40 warriors. He softens them up some more with tank fire then casually steps over the still twitching bodys of my necrons to assault the rest. Decimates 1 squad down to 5 and they retreat. I miss my shots with my immortals to keep one of his tanks from taking aim at my dwindling warriors. He then proceeds to move a ravager towards my immortals along with his speeder bikes takes out all but 2 of them. At this point I fail most of my we'll be back rolls and I hit under 25% rule and I phase out.

I have to say it was a good game. Brutal, but gooed. Can't wait for next week. WOOHOO

What have I got myself into?

So I been plugging away at my Necron army. Got them out of my battle box breaking them out of there moldings, shaving them with a exacto knife, filing down ruff spots, and wondering what the hell I have got myself into. I look at my desk and see primer, paints, brushes, paper towels, plastic bits, a dremil tool, and other items. I continue to work on the small bits of my army as my common sense screams at me to take a break but I must finish my army. My creation must LIVE!

As I slip farther down the rabit hole I hear the small voice or reason pull a dirty trick before it is drowned in the sea of fanatasizm "When will you find time to get laid?" The thought falls upon deaf ears as my passion consumes me and I become another slave to the Necron lords.

*pictures to come soon*

I have ruffly about 3200 points of necrons and more ideas for more. My paint scheme is going to be a little outside the normal necron theme I just hope it works. Gloss black base, pumpkin orange for the most of the hoses and highlights. Then a very orange copper dulled with a black wash. I even have the orange plastic tubes on order from a company. WOOHOO

so far

HQ

1 Speeder Lord

1 OOP Lord with staff of light

troops

60 Warriors

Elites

5 Periah

10 Immortals

Fast Attack

3 Wraiths

14 Swarms

6 Destroyers

Heavy

2 Monoliths

3 Heavy Destroyers

WOOHOO

Warhammer Fantasy, CSM, some terrain

Hi. I figured I should make a post to try and keep my motivated. Back in February I started collecting a Beastmen Army for Fantasy in addition to my Bretonnians as the army book was going to be released soon.

Since then I've amassed a sizeable portion of models for the Beastmen and am going to begin painting them soon. In addition I will use to to detail some other projects going on that I have in the works.

Right now the Beastmen army is as follows

2 chariots

WIP Ghorgon conversion

Shard of the Herdstone

Around 42 Gors with AHW

12 Bestigors

20 Ungor Raiders18 Ungor with Spears/shields

10 Warhounds

5 Spawn

2 Minotaurs

Bray shaman

Beastlord/Wargor conversion.

That is all I have for now. I am putting the finishing touches on the 2nd Tuskgor chariot tonight, and will be basing and priming them this week.

The Awakening of the Star Gods

So I had a good sized Necron Army drop into my lap two weeks ago. The condition of the models was just....sad. The monolith had just gobs of what seems to be cheap PVA glue pouring out of each seam. The attempt to paint the model was, well, careless. For such an expensive model I was shocked to see it in such a poor condition. Anyway I've been spending the past few days rebuilding this force. I took the monolith completely apart by breaking all the glue seams. I broke away what I could of the old glue and I've just finished gluing and "Green Stuff"ing the seams. Some time in the next couple days I'll be filing down and trying to get the seams as straight as possible. Anyway, its been a real challenge, but to pay nothing for these models and be able to test my skills at modeling has been rewarding. Anyway I'm anxious now for GW to release the new Necron Codex. I was sad to see that the army was still using a codex from 3rd edition. God, someone needs to bribe the guys at GW with a keg to get their butts in gear on new codices. Well, here's the list of what I have. I do need to order some bits for some of the models, but all in all, I got this army for the Orks out of the assault box set. I'm happy

The Forgotten Star Gods

HQ

Necron Lord on Destroyer Body

Troops

22 Warriors

Elites

8 Immortals

4 Pariahs

Fast Attack

6 Destroyers

3 Wraiths

Heavy Support

5 Heavy Destroyers

1 Monolith
